Deep ruby hue with soft rose at the rim. The nose opens with iris and violet, layered with black currant, bramble, cherry, and plum. Hints of tobacco, musk, wet earth, and anise add complexity. On the palate, vivid acidity and medium-plus tannins frame flavors of cola, cherry, almond, and licorice. The finish is long and persistent. Vineyard Notes
Sustainably farmed, volcanic hillside vineyard on the slopes of Atlas Peak, overlooking Napa Valley. These select blocks yield small clusters and berries with naturally intense color, tannins, and texture.
Production Notes
Harvest began early with white wine grapes picked on July 30th and red wine grapes beginning on August 31. Grapes were harvested in the cool morning hours and gently destemmed using a precision Pellenc system. After a short settling period in small tanks, fermentation began. A brief maceration ensured the wine retained the vineyard’s natural concentration and finesse. The wine was then transferred to barrels to capture delicate oak influence while preserving the fruit’s purity.
Winemaker Notes
2022 was dubbed “a tale of two harvests” and stands out as one of the more unique vintages in recent years. The white wine harvest began in early August, followed quickly by reds. A stretch of triple-digit heat in early September was soon interrupted by rain, compressing the harvest window. Grapes that remained on the vine benefited from a mild October, allowing for optimal ripeness. Red wines from 2022 are showing deep color, refined tannins, and vibrant, fruit-forward aromatics. Winemakers believe this vintage will highlight the full range of Napa Valley character—from crisp and bright to bold and expressive.
